Jeffrey Lake hosts a Launch Party

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Following his recent announcement to run for state office, new political candidate Jeffrey Lake has officially entered the 22nd Senatorial District in the race against Senator Marty Flynn.

To kick off his campaign, Lake hosted a Launch Party at Voodoo Brewing Company in Scranton, aiming to rally public support and share his vision with the community.

Drawing from his personal and professional experiences in Scranton, Lake spoke about his deep roots in the community and why he’s running for office.

“A little bit about me, I've worked as a nurse for a while. I worked as an outpatient therapist, but I'm from Scranton. I’m a Scranton native. I’ve lived in every neighborhood of the city, including public housing. My family relied on public assistance, growing up on Medicaid and SNAP. So, I understand the community. I've seen every aspect of our community and have lived most of those aspects as well,” said Lake.

“I'm getting into this race because NEPA has had far too many leaders that only look out for themselves. And we need somebody to represent us,” said Lake.

Addressing a key issue raised by his campaign’s opposition, Lake shared his perspective on the development of data centers in various areas across the NEPA region.

“I'm open to AI, but there's a lot of concerns with data centers, especially environmentally, and the quality of life of our community. People are being forced out of their homes in certain areas and groundwater depletion and energy consumption. I'm concerned that it's going to really raise the costs in a time where nothing is affordable for our community,” said Lake.
